ARRIVAL AND PICK UP

The scientific program of the Workshop will start at 9:30 AM on Monday, 19 July. Therefore, please arrange to arrive on Sunday, 18 July.

We will have buses leaving at two or three different times on the afternoon and evening of Sunday, 18 July, to bring participants from the Prague airport. Please contact us and tell us:

  • do you want the bus ride from the Prague airport on 18 July ?
  • if yes, when does your flight arrive ?
  • do you want the bus ride back to Prague on 23 July ?

Arriving by plane

The nearest airport is Prague (160 km North, 2 hours driving, approx. 4 hours by public transportation); some European flights also arrive in Linz, Austria (100 km South, 2 hours by train). Another option is Vienna, Austria (210 km East).

By car

If you drive from home or rent a car at the airport, you will be able to park for free at the conference site. We must warn against a reckless driving style in the country.

By bus or train

You can find a connection, for instance by using the IDOS online system. Your destination is Ceske Budejovice. Some trains arriving from Germany stop at the "Holesovice" station. To continue to Ceske Budejovice, you must transfer via Subway (3 stops on "C" line) to the Main train station "Hlavni nadrazi".

Public transportation

From Prague airport to Ceske Budejovice

At the Prague airport, walk to the public bus stop outside the terminal and buy a ticket for 26 CZK from a yellow vending machine at the bus stop. You must validate the ticket as you enter the bus. The ticket is good for the journey from the airport to the train or bus terminal (which requires two transfers and takes about 45 minutes).

Take the line 119 bus (leaves every 5-20 minutes) to the terminal "Dejvicka". Transfer to subway "A" line (green); all trains go downtown. At the "Muzeum" station, transfer to subway "C" line (red), and go either one stop to the Main train station "Hlavni nadrazi" or, for the bus terminal, continue to the "Roztyly" station. You should find direct connections for either bus or train to Ceske Budejovice by using the IDOS system. The bus or train journey takes about 2.5-3 hours.

Public transportation in Ceske Budejovice

The trolley-bus stop is next to the bus terminal, and across the road (via underpass) from the train station. Take line number 3 directly to the campus, stop "Jihoceska Universita" (takes about 10 minutes). You will need a ticket for 12 CZK (available from yellow vending machines), which you must validate as you enter the bus. A map of city bus lines is here.

Additional information

The local currency is the Czech Koruna (CZK); the rate is appox. 26 CZK to Euro, 17 CZK to US dollar. You can exchange money at the airport, in Ceske Budejovice city center, or withdraw from ATM machines using a card.

Most places accept all major credit cards.

Tap water is okay for drinking directly.

The voltage is 220-240 V.
